The St. Regis Princeville Resort Partners with Alexis Bittar

Celebrated Jewelry Designer Creates an Exclusive Fashion Accessory for Kaua'i's Quintessential Address

KAUAI, Hawai'i – The St. Regis Princeville Resort is delighted to announce that the legendary brand's first resort in Hawaii has partnered with renowned jewelry designer Alexis Bittar to create an exclusive fashion accessory celebrating the opening of the resort. Inspired by the land and natural surroundings of Kaua'i, Alexis Bittar has designed a limited edition hibiscus flower pin, paying homage to the state flower of Hawai'i. Renowned for his inventive use of Lucite, Bittar has designed the hibiscus in vibrant pinks and purple, shades that can be found throughout the lush island landscape of Kaua'i and echo Hanalei Bay's legendary sunset.

"It was easy to find inspiration in the majestic setting of Kaua'i," stated Bittar, "The vivid colors of the island translate wonderfully into jewelry and Lucite is the ideal medium to communicate the beauty of the location."

One of today's most innovative jewelry designers, Alexis Bittar counts everyone from Cameron Diaz to Madeline Albright, Mylie Cyrus to Vanessa Redgrave as fans. The exclusive St. Regis Princeville hibiscus pin is hand-sculpted and hand-painted, combining Bittar's love of form, texture, color and light. The exclusive St. Regis Princeville hibiscus pin will be available for purchase for $323 at Alexis Bittar's Bleecker Street boutique in New York and at Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills. The resort will donate 10% of all sales to Limahuli Garden and Preserve, dedicated to the ecological and cultural restoration of the Limahuli Valley located on the north shore of Kaua'i.

Opening in October 2009, following a multi-million dollar renovation, The St. Regis Princeville Resort is an elegant reflection of its island home, paying homage to the land and culture. The resort's interior design reflects Hawaii's natural surroundings, the sea, sky and earth. The hotel's transformation is guided by the Hawaiian concept of the Ahupua'a, a philosophy of living in balance with nature. The resort will unveil the signature Halele'a Spa four restaurants, 252 guest rooms, including 51 premium ocean view suites.

The St. Regis Princeville is steeped in grand Hawaiian heritage built on legendary grounds beside the emerald green Hanalei Valley and overlooking the awe inspiring Napali Coast. The area was named the "city of the prince" after a royal visit by Hawaii's Prince Albert, son of King Kamehameha IV in 1860. Princeville's breathtaking natural setting has made the area among the premiere destinations in the world. The resort is surrounded by five majestic mountains, a patchwork of taro farms, a wildlife refuge, equestrian paths and hiking trails, ancient sea caves and lagoons.

About Alexis Bittar

Born in Brooklyn in 1968, Alexis Bittar launched his eponymous jewelry collections in 1990. His interest in jewelry and design began at a young age when, as a child, he accompanied his parents to flea markets, where they collected and sold rare antiques and collectibles. Later, fueled by his passion for antiques, including Art Deco Bakelite and turn-of-the-century Lalique glass, Bittar began designing Lucite and semi-precious jewelry and selling it on the streets of Soho. Bittar's bold designs quickly caught the eye of store buyers from world renowned museums, luxury department stores and high-end specialty stores, both nationwide and overseas. Over the years, his designs have become cult favorites of A-List celebrities, including Madonna, Cameron Diaz and Alicia Key, and influential fashion icons such as Karl Lagerfeld and Patricia Field. Today, Alexis Bittar jewelry is sold at over 600 luxury retails locations around the globe. In 2004, Bittar opened his first flagship boutique on Broome Street in Soho and 2008 marked the opening of his second boutique in New York's West Village.
